Annalisa Bolin - New postdoc at the Department of Archaeology and Heritage Studies

Annalisa Bolin has joined CAS on 1 September and is affiliated the “Enduring Materialities of Colonialism” project.

Annalisa Bolin is an anthropologist and archaeologist whose research focuses on the uses of difficult heritage in postcolonial and postconflict contexts. She holds a PhD in Anthropology from Stanford University and previously completed a postdoc at the UNESCO Chair on Heritage Futures at Linnaeus University in Sweden. At Aarhus, she is joining the “Enduring Materialities of Colonialism” project to study the community heritage of Danish colonialism on St. Croix, US Virgin Islands. This work draws on her background researching community engagement with heritage in Rwanda, as well as on Rwanda's politics of heritage and development after violence and the international restitution of cultural artifacts and human remains. For this project, she is particularly looking forward to pursuing creative modes of public outreach and working with artistic communities on St. Croix.
