I am a landscape archaeologist who studies past settlement patterns in their environmental context, with special focus on the long-term trends in the rise and decline of social complexity. In my current research in SE Europe and SE Australia, I document the material proxies of past social organization, subsistence activities, and industry, and compare them with written records. My contribution to the field is in the application of digital methods and in the development of innovative mobile digital technology for cross-disciplinary field data capture. I am an advocate of reproducible workflows and deep digital practice; my strengths are mobile field recording, data management, and regional remote sensing for cultural heritage monitoring.
